  1. That's because you failed to notify the voter registry in your district about your move, which would have prevented unwanted ballots being sent to your old address. Evidently, you formerly lived in a state that has mail-in voting, but it should be noted that most states don't typically mail out ballots unless requested. Most people fail to notify the voter registry of moves, which is one reason why voter rolls are routinely checked and purged every few years. The difference here being that there are legitimate purges and then there are Republican purges targeting minorities that are not legitimate, but racist, undemocratic, and rather blatant attempts to cheat. Also, the instances of people fraudulently misusing another person's ballot to vote is so rare that it isn't even a real issue. The payoff for the crime just isn't worth the fines, lawyers fees, and prison time faced, which the vast majority of Americans seem to realize. The fact that the very few idiots attempting to fraudulently vote invariably get caught and convicted is further testimony to the security of our electoral process.

  4.  @Les020519  ~ Not sure how we were being condescending or making any assumptions. That certainly wasn't the intent, which was only to provide helpful information in relation to this news video. One thing forgot to mention before is that usually the new person moving in to the residence just circles the old name on any mail for the former resident and scribbles "N/L/A" (no longer at address) and/or "return to sender" on the front of the envelope, leaving it in the mailbox for the mailman to pickup the next day. They should return to sender, notifying them that person no longer lives there. That way the local voter registry should stop mailing out unwanted ballots to a person's former residence. Of course, not everyone's a good neighbor that way, and occasionally the Post Office or the sender don't follow through, but it has typically worked for me in the past.

  5. Republicans constantly cheat and lie While falsely accusing the other guy. "Purge" is not a Stalinist term when describing removing names from voter rolls--it is the normal, common vernacular used nationally--even by election officials themselves. Purging voter rolls can be a legitimate process routinely used to update the rolls, to keep them current and, yes, to help prevent voter fraud, an insignificant and largely non-existent problem in America. It can also be used as a form of voter suppression. By attaching the negative connotation to the term and then crying foul, Republicans are unwittingly revealing their own guilty intent. Which was already super-obvious, anyway, from the sudden, voluminous rash of voter suppression laws being promoted and passed by numerous Republican state legislatures after losing the Presidency in 2020.

  7. As political commentator and former Republican presidential advisor Mark McKinnon so aptly put it recently, "The Republican party is at dysfunction junction." May disagree with conservative ideology and with their stances on many issues, but do value and respect LOYAL opposition--a duty that the GOP has for too long forgotten and abdicated, putting personal and party interests before country. That is not only harmful to their party, it is harmful to our democracy and institutions. And it has come to represent a clear a present danger to our nation, a serious threat to our very security. All of this is mentioned because it is firmly believed that this is not a time for diplomatic, soft-spoken words. This is not a time to be timid or Pollyannaish about our current political landscape, but a time for frankness, a time for acknowledgment of defects, a time for courageously confronting stark unpleasant realities. Our democracy is a fragile construct, only as sturdy, vibrant, and enduring as we maintain it, requiring constant vigilance and due diligence. Just as we don't forget Pearl Harbor, or 9/11, even more so the attack against our nation's Capitol on January 6, 2021 by fascist Reich-wing domestic terrorists incited to insurrection by a deranged President against his own government must never be forgotten or forgiven. Thus, we MUST condemn both cowardly, corrupt Republican so-called "leaders" defying truth, justice, duty, democracy, and Constitution--and their dysfunctional political party that behaves as a cult--in the strongest possible terms, using the most muscular language that can be mustered. For it is necessary; the very fate of our nation depends upon it. Disaster was narrowly averted with the defeat of Trump, with Democratic control of the House and Senate, but the battle for the soul of this nation is far from over, and we must never again allow ourselves to become complacent.
