I doubt Britain was much fun in the 1940s but the Brits didn't jump ship and go live in another country they stayed in Britain and repaired the war damage after fighting for the country.

@mimortal There are plenty of countries larger, with a similar climate and follow the same religion nearer but they still risk their lives getting to Britain. Just shows how soft and generous Britain is. Mind you only have to watch the illegals getting out of the dinghies at Dover they are laughing, punching the air they think they won the lottery landing on treasure island.
