  1. I worked in supermarkets for years in the 90s & early 00s it was bad then & the police did not want to know. I'm sure its far worse now. It wasn't people stealing because they were hungry it was gangs coming in stealing £40-£50 a time mainly to fund a drug problem. Its even worse now because shops are open until late at night or even 24 hrs a day. Most of the time these supermarkets only have a few junior staff in charge during the unsocial hours times.
