  3.  @dominicgunderson  traditional architecture is great because its localized, human centered, and there's a sense of shared local history which cements and affirms the heritage and identity of those who live in it, for one, almost all of its material are sourced from local sources or from neighboring regions making it more economical and also more pragmatic to the environment around it, the other point, is that alot of traditional architecture is built with human relations and behavior in mind, for instance, the inner courtyards of many traditional 5 story tall apartment complexes provide a rural recluse in the middle of the urban landscape which the denizens of said apartment complexes can coalesce in, the fact that to get into the inner courtyard requires passing through a usually heavy gate or door creates a portal effect that makes that space seems like a private communal sanctuary. And lastly, traditional motiffs and designs grounds the place in a certain time, place, and culture. Its not rootless, globalized, homogenous blob. its rooted, localized, with an ethnic character, something that is actually humane, and affirming to the people who lives in such lands. If you were to go to India and build african style structures there, it would look out of place, because the culture is removed from the people who live in it. structures can exist anywhere and everywhere but nations and communities ought to exemplify their heritage in the styles of their structures. Ironically, any movement that aims to prevent a people from expressing themselves in their own homelands can only accurately be described as imperialistic and when movement of peoples and demolition of local culture is included, it then becomes colonization. What modernity has done is not only vassalize europe it also colonized europe.
