Exactly. Worst case scenario maybe like 5-10 swing seats will stay in Democrat hands and we'll end up with 240-245 House seats instead of 250, but who honestly cares that much?

@gooieglopp We heard this same thing in regards to the VA governor's race and how it was supposedly gonna be the boost McAuliffe needed after the Texas abortion law was allowed, yet not only did he still lose, but nearly 60% of voters who listed abortion as their most important issue voted for Youngkin (and that's not even mentioning the fact that that group only comprised like 8% of the electorate anyway).

I questioned (and even flat out changed) my OG pro-choice position the moment that idiot former VA governor (Ralph Northam) went on TV and flat out condoned infanticide. Whether that bozo intended to or not, he may have almost single handedly turned many more people pro-life and energized them to get this done sooner rather than later. And so in an ironic fashion I have to thank him! (And also for giving us Youngkin because of how bad he was).

Yeah that's the other thing, the average person in this country has a short attention span. Give it about 3 weeks to a month at most and the left will find something new to be outraged about.

@trianglesandsquares420 Yeah yeah, we get it, personal responsibility is the worst thing in the world to have to deal with and yadda yadda yadda...

@mogalixir I'd argue that even if it did have a large impact I wouldn't care anyway. Putting aside the fact that like 90-95% of Republicans (and I'm being VERY generous with that percentage believe it or not) are completely useless anyways, protecting the unborn and people actually doing what we elected them to do are far more important in my eyes than red dots on a map. I'd rather see the entire country go blue whilst we have a massive policy victory on our hands for the better than see the entire country go red only to see Republicans do absolutely nothing with their power and merely delay the inevitable destruction of America by a couple years or so at most.

Hot take: I could actually see it HELPING Republicans even more, for the right will only be even more energized now because of this victory and because many pro-life voters who have long been convinced this would never happen will now believe that their vote matters and that they CAN make a difference! I can legitimately see a historic level of conservative turnout unlike anything we've ever seen before just based on this decision alone. Call me crazy or ignorant, but this is legitimately the biggest victory the right has gotten in decades, and I have a strong hunch it's only going to energize them even more to vote.

@Roggor That's the problem though, most leftists (hell, most Americans in general for that matter) don't actually understand what Roe v Wade is. Indeed it's very telling that often times when these biased Dem pollsters rephrase the question in such a way that makes it clear the choice between the federal government determining whether or not abortion is legal vs the states deciding it, support for Roe has historically gone significantly down.

I'd rather they announce them now than in October if it's elections you're worrying about (nonsensically, I might add). Besides, at some point they needed to happen regardless. The 2nd Amendment is vitally important to protect and uphold, and Roe v Wade was a terribly decided case that had no real constitutional basis behind it. The "right time" to do it as far as I'm concerned is ANY time!

Amen to that!

Exactly. It's not about how much power we have, it's about how we use our power. Last I checked we try and win elections to actually get things done and so that the people we elect will actually follow their promises and represent us, not just so we can stare at an electoral map all day and brag about how red everything is!
2
@trianglesandsquares420 Whilst I do believe that the behavior of other people who share one's beliefs alone should have absolutely no bearing on their convictions, at the same time when you DO see people who share your beliefs doing a bunch of disgusting and downright evil things, it really does make you ponder and go, "hmm, why does my side act like this?".
2
@gooieglopp Except that you're ignoring the fact that part of the reason why Roe was seriously endangered in recent years to begin with is BECAUSE of how insane the fringe left was getting on the issue to where some of them HAVE been arguing for free and unfettered abortions.
2
Thank you, this is EXACTLY what I've been saying! We try and win elections precisely BECAUSE we want to get things done, not just because we want to glance over red dots on a map all day!
2
Yeah that's another thing too. Never underestimate the Democrats' ability to eat themselves alive.

It's a shame, because up until her gun vote I actually thought she was a somewhat decent Senator. Not anything special but she had a better-than-average voting record up to that point. It's a shame that even she caved on the gun issue.

Some have even predicted we could hit $10 by October. If that happens nobody will give a damn about trying to help keep Dems in power no matter how much they whine about the Orange Man, gun control, abortion etc.

@empirednw6624 Trust me when I say that people are paying ridiculous amounts of money at the pump to fill up their car, abortion is one of if not the LAST things on their minds.
1
@gooieglopp Even most pro-choice Americans agree that it should still be illegal at a certain point. It is a small, fringe minority of Americans who want it free and unfettered at any point in time including even after birth.

@dougrobinson8602 It's such a small amount of "relief" anyway that it honestly doesn't make a difference. If Dems are banking on "Well your gas at least costed 30 cents less today than it did yesterday!" in a desperate attempt to save them even if the prices are still really bad, then they've got a rude awakening coming.

You know how it goes.... rules for me, but not for thee!
