I've been saying for a long time now that his record in Florida is pretty good (even if a bit overrated at times), but that it doesn't always translate to the national level. State politics and federal politics are a very different beast, and right now DeSantis is getting donors and meeting with a bunch of people you do NOT want presidents to be associated with!

Before we all laugh at Ron and/or decry him for even attempting this, never, and I mean NEVER, underestimate the length the establishment's willing to go to to stop Trump! If they have to rig the GOP primary to let Ron win, you can bet every dollar in your pocket they will. Why else do you think the DeSimps are so oddly confident? They know the corrupt establishment GOP are already preparing their dirty and scummy tricks!

Hell no. Ron's about to throw away pretty much all remaining goodwill he has not only with Trump himself but with his base. Ron would be lucky to even get a cabinet position after the nasty way this primary is more than likely headed!

@ReformedSauron Just look at the way the establishment Dems did Bernie in 2016 and 2020. Yes the guy's a socialist POS who should never even be near the White House, but even still they robbed him of the nomination twice in a row, and the second time pretty much out in the open with all of Biden's other challengers conveniently dropping out at the same time. I have no doubt the establishment GOP is plotting something similar with Trump. After 2020 all the crooks in Washington know they don't even have to pretend to play fair anymore.

@rb98769 Lots of people also loved George W. Bush as governor of Texas. Look at how well that translated to the national stage! Furthermore look at Ron's congressional record prior to his becoming governor, where he had a rather poor record on things like trade and social security. I'd say that's a pretty big indicator of how he'd govern at the federal stage.

@rb98769 Eh, debatable, Reagan is honestly quite overrated IMO. He did do some good things and was a necessary figure for his time and place, but he also paved the way for the weak GOP neoconservatism we still see way too much of today and caused long-term damage to the nation with things like no-fault divorce laws and the assault weapons ban. My opinion on that aside however, even if I did agree with you, that's still just one example and doesn't prove my overall point, which is that it's a huge risk to assume that just because someone is good at the state level it means they'll automatically be just as great nationally. Look at who is endorsing them. Look at who they're choosing to hang out and associate with. And if they do have a federal record of some kind, examine that as well. It'd be a huge mistake to blindly elect someone to the highest office in the land based purely off of good feelings and without proper vetting and research. There's a reason many people display skepticism towards politicians no matter how great they seem; sometimes they may not always be as great as they seem to be.
