I love how Claudius looks like Augustus, look at their ears! I think certain disability comes with humility and a greater capability for compassion, and this was his strength in the end. Although as I said before about Caligula, if the disability is a constant suffering that no one seems to understand, this can turn in the complete opposite direction.

Given the fact you mention the headaches. Permanent suffering, illness, really can bring the worst out in people. I personally know because I too suffer from such endless little pains. You do anything you can to cope with it, often in the most primal formes. And when there's people around me I get agitated very quickly and either leave the company of those people or start venting. Now I have no power, but now imagine someone with boundless power in such a situation.

Augustus and Claudius remind me of many fairy tales in which the youngest, weakest son, who only tends to the homes fire, turns out to be the wisest.

Well the thing about what you said about the sources is that, right now we have plenty of sources available from Otto von Bismarcks lifetime, so we can actually write a pretty good account of his life. People are always so sceptical of sources from later eras, but they take or even just straight up copy older sources. Of course some would write it the way they interpreted it, so it's not always 1-1 the same sources. And it's good to remember that.

Wilhelm sounds a lot like me. I'm liking this guy. Heart in the right place, acts honorably. Too bad he had such a wimp for a father who had let himself be poisoned by British liberalism. And in turn didn't prepare his own son mentally for the throne.
