There are actually a lot of remnants of the Nazis all over Europe, and they are being protected for the sake of historical education.

It's good that this is all kept civil. To be honest the memorial is obviously put there to memorize fallen soldiers that fought for the Confederate at the time. A common misconception is that they just fought to "keep slavery". They fought to stay independent, regardless of slavery or not. Slavery was simply a part of the Confederate. Thus I think it's not right to state that this memorial has anything to do with race. Removing this part of history won't erase it nor help make anyone's life better. There's not much of a point in bringing outsiders there to help protest, in the end the village itself decides whether it stays or it goes. And clearly he is the only person in the village who wants to see it disappear .
