  1. The public put them there. The public rejected Corbyn and elected the first celebrity Prime Minister in UK history. All under first past the post, of course. The public do not know left from right, quite literally, confusing mild democratic socialism with extremism when the real extremists are the rabble rousers making inflammatory remarks that stir up anti asylum and anti immigrant hatred. The Tories know that millions of boneheads agree with them and that it is a wedge issue they can leverage to help them at the next election- it might just work.
