As always an excellent video by Shervan. But still, he forgot to mention one very important aspect: The invaluable treasures in the grounds of the country. The pyramids are just the most known of them, but basically the entire country is sprawling of amazing archeological sites and ancient relicts given 5000+ years of continuous written and built history. It's the perfect setting for high-value tourism for all over the world. Just imagine how much money they could make by making it standard for the global top 1% of society to send their children for 6 weeks to Egypt to discover its treasures. That would be 2+ million tourists every year with each one of them spending some 10,000$ there.

@TheMagicToyChest True, but Greece (and also the Roman empire) used to be there, too. Hint is "Alexandria". The rest is good marketing and of course an offer you can't resist (in terms of safety, experience and educational surplus).
