It would seem to me as if the UAE are the only stable confederation in the Arab world and should be considered as template or at least a benchmark for other possible unions in the region. In fact, the UAE reminds me a lot about Switzerland in the European context as the only truly multi-cultural nation offering long-term stability and prosperity for all its different peoples.

@puraLusa I'm talking about long-term stability where all different cultures are equally satisfied with the deal. Catalonia and Basques seem not so much ok with the deal offered by the Spanish crown.

@LeGronk Despite all the mistreatment, why are the still guest workers flocking to the UAE? What injustices is Switzerland looking away domestically?

@puraLusa Well, they all look away. Switzerland is the only one that doesn't engage in war itself. The anonymity btw emerged with Hitler, when Jews and dissidents started bringing their wealth into safety. That means, their banking ethics is a two sided sword. Not clean in good times, but also not blood stained in bad ones.

@puraLusa I don't know much about Basques, but 'm not a big fan of Katalan independence activists. They all seem to be left-wing extremists, which is the opposite of trustworthy. If Spanish separatism is such a small issue and quintessentially just about subsidiarity, why isn't the crown giving in? After all, it would mirror the Swiss model and they'd have their peace. Or is Madrid's political elite too much against it?
