Yeah and the crime has carried over into the next century too

I adore Lionel but the real tragedy is that she doesn't know how to reject the side which is rejecting her. Times change and the left has changed with them it is that simple. Time to move on and create a whole new movement which she would surely be at the vanguard of. And I do not mean conservatism because the majority of the party don't even know what that means anymore. Young writers could do a lot worse than binning woke and getting in touch with some real thinking if only there were more people encouraging them to do so. Tragedy abounds. What a sad pathetic world we currently live in.

Yul Hubbart I am afraid there are differences between puritan and woke. The woke have no religious justification to hide behind or back up their (non)arguments. Instead they use the identities of others to further their own position. This in itself puts puritans in a better light. Puritans didn't really give a shoite about any other group but they weren't alone in having strict moral guidelines either. And David Starkey should be well aware of that. Woke loves Islam but muslims despise wokeness, so woke is basically digging its own grave. A fitting epitaph might be 'Here lies Woke, who loved everybody apart... Obviously too thick even to get the measurements of the gravestone correct.

I was wondering the same. Some perspective is required during such discussions ala the end is nigh. The debts are of course very real and the homeless are increasing but there are still plenty of people not in personal debt or enjoying a lush lifestyle based on credit to not care one little bit. I am not saying it is great as I have always saved for essential items regardless what the next person says or does. But some people are so oblivious having been born after the credit boom started that they will probably enjoy the equivalent of what you would have needed to be very rich to experience in previous centuries and die before the shit hits the fan - so why would they change it - that's the problem. It would have to be taught in school and that is not going to happen any time soon. I think the real question is: How long have we got?

It is so hard to trust corrupt weasels or believe they could not stoop so low

@doc214 And a substantial number of the vulnerable age group are going to be in care homes where they could have reasonably been tested earlier if the government actually cared as much as they try and make out.

@raraavis7782 To your initial post: quite simply without an economy we will be starting to starve to death before too long anyway. From day one every time I have gone shopping there has been at least one person openly flouting social distancing. It is nigh on impossible for supermarket staff to enforce this and I am not going to waste my time explaining what I don't fully endorse but just follow out of mutual respect for the order of law which the majority of us follow. But how often do politicians do their own shopping that they would witness just how much notice the average member of the public doesn't take of anything they say [rhetorical]. To your second post: Sorry to hear that but it is unfortunately fairly common to be unpopular for expressing any opinion that you dare to hold. Three months down the line I think we can reasonably say that the various protests, street parties and mass beach invasions of recent weeks have made an utter mockery of the whole situation well beyond the level of your carefully considered words. Don't let em grind ya down.

@ae112 All the more reason to pop over there and out em if that is the case.

Another great interview, slightly surprised to see someone with their foot on the table but I still love Lionel. I hope we can have an economist on this channel at some point given the further impact of the COVID19 lockdown. Still three months behind here yet so forgive me if this has been tackled but I am catching up fast watching every interview and really enjoying and appreciating the experience, thanks.

I thought the church of Ireland had survived into the twelfth century.

I think Protestant Work Ethic might be too steep a curve for someone who makes their living as a writer to convey. But point taken here. The lack of accountability at the moment might actually make feudalism seem like a more secure option. What we are witnessing is certainly not progress that's for sure.
