@brandonhernandez116 You've just repeated what you just said. I've approached this wrong, it sounds like I completely disagree with you when it's the opposite, I do believe the US is ahead, but the investments you are talking about shouldn't be seen as a saviour to US advancements. There are many articles about china's huge investment and progress and momentum in technology. And there are equally as many stating the US investment just isn't enough. And that shouldn't be ignored. Because even Congress members and Biden admit how slow the simple bill is getting passed. That didn't make the headlines.

@bighands69 China is still moving up the value chain in terms of artificial intelligence and other technology. I mean that's what the Pentagon said anyway

@brandonhernandez116 The innovation ranking you used was probably not accurate at all. China isn't in a "sorry ass state" and they are innovating in upcoming technology and if the US doesn't stop that, they'll become the world leader in AI etc. Take it from the Pentagon and not me. The leader of the IT defence sector resigned last year and said "China had already won the AI race" and now the US Congress is pushing for a huge competition bill to spend more on technology to counter China. Lots of teens usually overlook the fact China is moving up the value chain. The US wouldn't be prioritising technological dominance if China weren't either

@brandonhernandez116 Well I'm not surprised by your stance. I do agree with you though, people focus on headlines to much. But the headlines don't mention China's R&D spending rocketing up to the US and how china is innovating. The US is still ahead, but china's ambition, money and prioritisation of technology shouldn't be shunned aside and replaced with old stereotypes

@brandonhernandez116 It's easy to say the US is making those necessary steps but take a closer look, and you'll see they the Congress is struggling to pass Biden's simple 52 billion technology competition bill. You are right, the US is ahead, but China doesn't just rely on IP theft like many think. They innovate and spend loads on upcoming technology. That should be something to agree on seeing as you "look through the headlines". But that might just be the hypocrisy that is shrouding US power comment section experts.

@brandonhernandez116 Yeah I agree, another thing, the US seems to always spend too much time and effort into attempting to block and slow china's progress instead of pushing their own innovation. I know you'll mention the "investments" that the US is putting in, but still, much more effort is being used to block and slow China. Even white house officials are openly talking about "slowing china's rate of innovation" If only that effort was put into actually fostering US innovation. Which it's not, despite the "investments"

Nah, Zeihan is a joke. He knows nothing and speaks rubbish, in a way that comforts people who are biased to America
