Comments by "JX" (@J_X999) on "What will be the consequences of China's declining population? | DW News" video.
@bighands69 China's problem is not population decline, it's the fact that wages and productivity in China aren't as high as the US or Japan.

Absolutely incorrect. If Ukraine can fight a war with less than 50 million people, China has no issue.

"But AI and robots don't buy stuff" AI and robotics will boost productivity in a shrinking workforce. This will boost wages and in turn, raise consumption dramatically

@aditya-ml6km Manufacturing is more to do with AI and robotics, not cheap sweatshop workers.

One thing that no one talks about is PRODUCTIVITY. China's average labour productivity is very low when compared to developed countries such as the US. If productivity increases well, the population decline won't be as apocalyptic as many think.

@BondJFK Incorrect, Ukraine has less than 50 million and can still fight a war. They get equipment from NATO, because they aren't big enough to make their own. Whereas China already has lots of their own equipment. An ageing population isn't going to decapitate that military. Lack of knowledge 🫵

Otherwise people would start killing themselves due to the lack of cope material.

@CaveManOogaBooga It's not about how MANY young people there are. It's about the level of disposable income they have. 5 young Chinese have the same income to spend as 1 American. That's the problem of china's demographics.
