Can you do a video on global birth rates? In places like East Asia, people just cannot afford to have children, and even if they could, they wouldn't have time to raise their children due to the nature of the East Asian work culture and their careers would be negatively impacted. Governments like Japan and Korea aren't committing to solving the root of the problem, but instead hope that cash incentives will raise births. I'm using East Asia as an example as that is where the causes of the problem are most extreme.

@zhcultivator Yep, watched that. It was good although I think it overcomplicates the issue slightly. The reason behind low birth rates is obvious. People can't afford to. Whether in terms of money or time.

@SkywalkerWroc Agreed. Your point on technology is interesting. However my initial point was about developed countries. Countries with low development don't have competitive education and everyone lives in straw huts. Kids are free labour on the farms.

@SkywalkerWroc Giving cash incentives doesn't work because the incentives aren't big enough and far too costly to maintain. Which is why governments like Japan can't do anything because the root of the problem remains.

@dextera-tx1099 Valid, but even then, by everyone else's logic here, immigration won't last very long either as birth rates will also continuously decline in Africa etc.

@BorninPurple If you actually think that's how it worked, you parents should not allow you on the internet. Before, children were a necessity, now they aren't due to the way society has evolved. People live in proper houses, and those houses are extremely expensive. Children have education, and in countries in east Asia, it's very expensive. Expensive things aren't good. Adults want things to be cheap, because they don't have unlimited money. Overall, children is expensive and adults don't like that.

@ArawnOfAnnwn Wrong! Having one kid in Shanghai and Seoul cost 7x (YuWa PR) the average wage. People aren't going to have two children when it's that expensive. They could, but they would end up living in mud huts with children as dumb as you, as they can't afford education. Harsh 😂😂

@joshklaver47 China needs a smaller population. I agree, but a monumental decline is not good for anyone. A TFR of 1.5 - 2.0 would be ideal

@ArawnOfAnnwn Are you trying to be wrong on purpose? If so, congrats. If not, buckle up. In societies like Africa and India, the countries and people are not developed. Compare those countries with the US and you'll find that they are decades behind. Undeveloped societies don't have people in jobs or education. They have people in huts and slums on farms. It costs nothing to give birth to children. Literally nothing. Compare that to developed East Asia and the US. People have careers. People have actual homes and don't follow crackpot religions. People care about their lives because they've got something to live for. The reason why poor people have more children in India and Africa is because they are around the early 1900s of developed societies. People in those developed societies will not have children because they have other things to do. Such as go to work, or spoon feed people information on the internet :) I'm assuming you don't have kids, and aren't dating well, which is why I'm understanding of your LACK of understanding. I know this is a lot to read, well done it you made it this far. PS - This is my original comment section with over 300 likes. If I want to call out people, I'll do so. If you can't handle that, don't comment.

Revisiting this thread, actually surprised at how deluded people can be when it comes to differentiating between an agricultural, undeveloped country and a highly developed, urban country. Wow.

@AzureWolf168 Agree. Although some population decline would be beneficial for countries like China. They haven't got much water and food is always an issue, but catastrophic decline isn't good either.

@sinoroman Look at Hong Kong or urban South Korea. Why aren't they having kids? It's not because they are "making things up", it's because they can barely afford a closet sized apartment for themselves.

@ZontarDow Are you trying to be wrong on purpose? If so, well done. If not, it's common sense.

@ArawnOfAnnwn If the cost of having children was cheaper, people would be having a lot more children. You brought up our grandparents. Which supports my point. Previous generations had much cheaper housing and education when compared to now. You've "blundered" your points completely, because you are trying to say "money isn't an issue" whilst actually supporting my point of the cost being a huge issue.
