  50. The other reason you fight a black bear and play dead with a grizzly is because black bears are not normally aggressive so if you get attacked by one it probably intends to kill and eat you. A grizzly on the other hand is more aggressive and may just attack you because it feels threatened but is not intending to eat you. If a grizzly thinks it's killed you or messed you up enough he may stop attacking and leave.
