@rickvervoort9536 Talk to the ATF and militaries around the world who use that term to describe a rifle with a detachable box magazine, intermediary cartridge, pistol grip and may be select fire. Battle rifles used to use large cartridges like .30-06. realizing this was overkill for anything under 300 yds they went to .308 and later downsized again to .556 allowing the soldier to carry more ammo. Hunters don't use .556/.223 to hunt deer, bear or moose. These calibers are designed for humans. A pistol grip allows the gun to be used for shooting over top of dugout/trenches or around coroners at close range with out exposing yourself. A capability that is not needed when hunting game. @rickvervoort9536 No but they are not designed for war. A hunting rifle is not designed to k^ll pe0ple as quickly and easily as possible like an assault rifle. An assault rifle has no business on the streets of a country that is not at war
