  1. The universe doesn't appear to be crawling with ancient alien AI. I would imagine if intelligent life was common in the universe, 15 billion years is plenty of time for intelligence to arise, many times over, and eventually replace itself with technology which would then be free to travel the universe unconstrained by biological life spans.
