I`m old enough to remember the '70's and 80's. If you owned a home you made sacrifices to pay off the mortgage as quick as possible.

@john1425 They don't take your home if you don't pay property tax. They put a lien on the property and get the tax when it is sold.

@john1425 In the case of simply owing property tax the government is going to withhold any tax refunds, garnish your wages or put a lien in the property long before they sell your house for owed taxes. Having said that I don't have very much pity for people who don't pay their taxes. Tax money is needed and everyone should pay them (including the rich)
