@PavelKrupets I guess they overstretched..... Fair point though. It would seem they had enough energy to not worry about the drag of the gear. Will be interesting to see what happened.

@raywhitehead730 It would explain why they didn't go around when they knew they were too fast. It's happened before as well.

@nickysalim3634 Probably not. But it would have been shown on the approach plates though. Either way that berm was 132 m off the end of the runway. There is not many runways around the world where you can go that far off the end without hitting something. After the berm was a concrete wall and then hotels.

@virgil81nz I don't know how you know both engines were running but I hear an engine as well. Could be a few things. Maybe they were in the process of restarting one of the engines or maybe it was the APU or it could have been another aircraft we were hearing that was behind the person filming or perhaps the bird strike engine that they meant to shut down that was still running but not producing thrust as it should because of damage

Did the crew know their gear wasn't down?

Good hypothesis. It should be quickly determined if this is what happened when they check the flight data recorder.
