Whether this was justified or not this time, it doesn't fully matter anymore. The fact is that Linux has become a constant stream of drama and this can't be a good sign.

This is particularly funny given how Linus has himself repeatedly insulted others for a very long time. Then, granted, he got slapped and put in the "right direction", probably "or else your foundation is dead financially". Oh well.😅

@JPs-q1o I don't doubt that, but who and how did it get forced through?

@omduggineni Nope, this is inexact. The code that was in effect in 2018 was a "code of conflict" which was pretty different from what it is now. In 2023, they adopted the CoC, which is the "code of conduct" (Contributor Covenant) that is now used verbatim by many open source projects and is the hallmark of wokistan. Linus was forced to sign it in a pretty controversial period. He certainly did not write it himself.

@omduggineni As I said, whether it's actually justified this time is almost irrelevant to the current Linux situation. There is IMO a problem currently that is much wider, and the fact that even technical matters are now handled by the "code of conduct" and its "committee" raises serious questions.

Darwin is actually open-source (well, not all parts of it anymore, but still), so it's not like jumping to MS either. You still have access to the core source code.

@qq84 Possibly, but by whom?

@qq84 If it was deleted, I guess that your answer didn't sound convenient.
