  6. In 1960 I was aged just 3yrs old, and stood in a que in a tiny grocers shop with my mum. Next to us is a blk man, and the first blk man I had ever laid eyes on. I remember innocently saying "mummy, why has that man got a dirty face"? (I was used to seeing coal men delivering coal, covered in blk coal dust) I didn't mean it in a bad way, I was a small child. Mum gave me that "look" and lightly squeezed my hand, which meant shush without actually saying anything outloud. I remember she said sorry to the man. I actually remember the whole situation. Can you imagine that situation in today's mad mad world. I would most likely have been done for racism and taken into care. That's how bad it's become. I'm just glad that at my age of 67, I'm on my way out of this crazy world and not just coming in.
