  2. ​​ @eattherich9215 Up until Thatcher came in in the 80s it was called the rates. We paid £45 per year ! And received far far better services than we do now! Then Thatcher introduced the dreaded poll tax, and overnight our £45 per year rates went to £1000 EACH for me and my husband under the poll tax! And from then it became the community charge, and now it's called the council tax. RIP off Britain.

  4. I have a family member who lives in a house twice the size of mine. They have a massive garden, I only have a very small front garden. My council tax is only £200 less than theirs.
