OK so she's recuperating! Unless she's unconscious what is stopping her thanking the public /the peasants for all their get well wishes and thoughts? Pretty sure she can sit in a comfy chair for a few mins while she speaks! Doubt she's that ill that she can't muster herself to do that! Unless they aren't telling us everything. Because for someone like her who has revelled being in limelight this is all very strange. If it turns out she was well enough to thank the peasants etc for a minute or so, then I'd say how rude of her not to.
