Around 42 years ago, I knew an elderly lady who had worked as a ward sister before her retirement some 10 years previously. And she told me back then that the problem in hospitals and the NHS in general, is because there are far to many managers. Or as she put it "more chiefs than Indians" So 40 plus years on from our conversation, nothing has changed! It's just become considerably worse.
