  1. Their aim is to kill off community. Pubs were the centre of communal life for many. Drink driving laws started the rot. Smoking bans followed. Letting in kids too. Now it is massive rent, rates, taxes, excise duties. 20,000 pubs closed since 2010. Not exactly conserving anything are they?

  2. UK had 70,000 pubs in 1977. Just 36,000 left now. One for every 2,000 people.
