@πe3 I'm sure Germans and Japanese found out that the M1 goes PING when it's empty, but they couldn't use that information on a practical battlefield. War is loud, these guys aren't wearing and ear pro, and the ping is almost the same frequency as tinnitus. Even on a quiet day, it's very hard to hear the ping at a distance beyond 25 meters. I know it sounds like it makes sense, but the myth really falls apart under scrutiny.
