With a few simple changes and govt guarantees this wouldn't happen- period! UBI, UHC, and food assistance if one needs it. Just meet basic material needs!!! That should be the FIRST responsibility of any moral govt. Sadly the US govt is an obscene joke- a criminal cabal of sociopathy for the corps and hyper-rich- that's it. FDR would be so sad and disgusted to see what has happened here since his death. It can't get much worse economically for people here.
