@bassage13 sorry that's wrong. Cats are prowlers and need their freedom. If they're healthy they deserve to be allowed outside. but they should definitely always have their claws and owners should be smart and make sure they're always inside at night.

@elizabethhenning778 lady that's just wrong. You need to learn how to love.

I understand safety being a concern but I've never kept my cats confined in the house 100% of the time. I couldn't do that to them. All my cats have enjoyed freedom anytime they wanted but I've always tried to have them inside at night as well.

Well I will always give my cats freedom, but I always try to make sure they get in at night. You're a 1000% correct about number two however.

@bassage13 quality of life is more important than quantity of life

@btsarmyforever3816 I've never had to declaw my cats and I've never had a problem with scratching inside the house. But I do let them outside. Clawing is a natural instinct and as long as you give them scratching posts and toys and/or let them outside they should be fine. I don't believe in declawing because if they ever do get outside and they need to escape from a predator as we saw in this video they're defenseless. if a person doesn't want to give a cat proper care which means allowing for its natural instincts which is to claw, and provide for those, then they shouldn't be getting a cat.

@bassage13 ok. 🙄

@benmontey3438 they certainly should go outside. most cats love and crave their freedom, cats are prowlers and love being in nature, but the owner should have been more careful about getting it back inside by nightfall or putting a gates or barriers around its porch.

You can see where it gets the top of the post he was looking for a way to get up on the roof. What a smart cat! I felt bad that there was nowhere else to go! It was inevitable given the smoothness of that post that he was going to fall eventually. Fortunately looks like the coyote had run off by then.

Never remove your cats claws if you let them outside! It leaves them defenseless.

It looks like home camera footage. Could be the owners either weren't home at this time or didn't hear anything.

What a champ. Poor baby. I hope the owner will be much more careful in the future and make sure it gets inside by night time. Since they live a place where coyotes roam, and they usually come out at night. I believe in letting cats outside, I don't like keeping cats inside most times, I believe that's bad for most cats, they need their freedom and they deserve time to be in nature, but definitely make sure they're inside at night if you're going to let them outside. We used to live in coyote country and our cats lived a long time but we were very careful to get them inside at night. At a minimumthey need to come on our property on the porch or the garage and they would be safe. We never saw a coyote actually come on to our property although we would hear them in the distance.
