The psychopathic deliberate irresponsibility of some newspapers of the time to print such inflammatory lies caused incalculable violence to it's eventual victims. I hope they're held accountable in the afterlife.

As a somewhat-white US citizen well-versed in this nation's history, it's truly hard to understand the coordinated levels and sheer scope of the deliberate violence and the willingness to commit such acts that certain members and sectors of this society have had, and shamefully that some continue to have today. While you won't find random murders by hanging and open KKK chapters as much among the general public as it used to be, the legacy of hateful racialized violence in the US continues today largely thru those with badges. It's not just a few bad apples, at least it's not in my belief. I believe upwards of 90% of cops and guards (or Pigs as I call them) in this country are some level of sociopath, and almost as many are deliberately, openly racist. Obviously I've had no way to verifying this, it's just my personal belief and conclusion after having lived here for 40 years and just having my eyes open, as well as my own experiences.

Excellent overview of a very unfortunate topic. One that represents a very dark, ugly and evil chapter of our history that isn't yet fully resolved today.

And never once was an anti-lynching law ever passed by Congress. It was pushed several times, but too many White bigots held power in Congress and always defeated it. There's still none on the books today. I'm telling you, satan loves America. Look what Its used it for- worldwide violence and mass death continuing today, Indigenous genocide both cultural and actual, and 400 years of hate, prejudice, slavery and murder against African descendants. The new Jim Crow continues today through mass incarceration, just a new form of slavery and confinement, and outside of the bars, disproportionate poverty rates among the Black community.
