  2. Privatization in general is just wrong. It disgusts me. Yes people deserve to be properly remunerated for their contribution and fully credited, but the constant privatization of what should be freely or easily accessible by all is just gross and I'm just so sick of it. This goes for land, ideas, profits, basic goods and so on. We can do better.

  3. I appreciate what a regulated private market can bring. We need companies to do their thing, WITHIN rational limitations. BUT I will die a militant Communist and I will never stop fighting the plutocrats of every industry and plutocratic government control. They need to be stopped.   5. It's literally the easiest thing in the world to have market limitation laws in order to prevent monopoly. It just takes politicians not to be in the pocket of the big business class. "No company can seize or control more than 25% of the market share in any given private industry" There I just did it I'm a goddamn genius how come nobody's electing me World Boss??

  7. Just like in regular rentals landlordism should be sharply limited. A single household should not be allowed to own more than five properties, and a business no more than too complexes or 200 units. Zero exceptions. NOW let's get into rent control. And that's how you protect consumers, renters and communities. Airbnb can still operate just within these constraints. It's not hard it's just called having ethics. You have to control the rapacious capitalist class. They don't have morals they will never stop. It's up to whatever regulatory and government structure that exists to stop them. But if your politicians are nothing but gangsters for plutocrats, this won't happen. Unfortunately from City Hall up to DC, every US mainstream politician is a gangster for plutocracy.

  8. I think all internet access should be free. There shouldn't be a charge to access the internet. The only charges should come from private services who run on a for-profit basis but not to access the internet itself. We all know there shouldn't be a charge to access the information superhighway just like there's not a charge to drive down the streets near my home or to get on the interstates in this country.

  17. We also need to get the idea out of colonized people's heads that file sharing is stealing. It sure as hell is NOT. Most IP needs to be abolished now. There are some limited exceptions I think would be fair to grant but most of it needs to go. With limited exception, all non-tangible intellectual material should be able to be shared freely by all those who wish to do so. Perioddddddd.

  18. Wikipedia is based but it does have its faults. I'm glad we have it but it can and has been corrupted by established political or elite agendas like anything else. The best thing for users is just to be aware of this and if they're pursuing something considered outside of the mainstream or contrary to dominate US political interest just keep in mind the information they might encounter on the pages of their destination may not all be accurate. Keep in mind the agenda of whoever might have edited that page last.

We need a more community-First economic model but we definitely don't need an overreaching State. I'd call myself a Libertarian communist but a lot of people wouldn't know how to take that so I usually don't say that.

  28. Politicians from both major political parties are just hype men for Big Capital. Nothing but snake oil salesman. They are consummate liars down to the last man. The sooner people get hip to that the sooner they can see through that scam and demand better, whether that's a third political party or walking away from politics all together and working on their goals in the private sector. (Speaking mostly from a US-centric viewpoint here)

  29.  @sentientnatalie  I agree deeper change sooner or later is probably going to be necessary but I'm trying to look at tangible gains that we could get now. And even those will be really hard to get passed In our lifetime. When you say end capitalism and that is so broad but I understand what you mean. I fully understand. But we are only a certain number of people okay, and we don't have superpowers. I think we need to set achievable goals and try to reach them in the next 20 years. I'm trying to push for progress, the more the better ideally. With the amount of extreme greed out in the world and how these interests basically own regional and federal governments, that's just not something you overthrow in an afternoon. That's going to take something a lot bigger and it may not happen in our lifetime. But we can push for limits on personal wealth, business size, rent control, price controls, we can push for all these market controls essentially. Well at the same time demanding various increases to the amount of public input on policy, and the economic supports that are provided to each citizen who needs them. We're going to have to go about this in a step by step process. If something happens that allows us to make more radical changes in a much faster period of time that's great. However that may not be the case. We can't say for sure at this point what's going to happen but we may have to be satisfied with a little bit more incrementalism than we'd prefer. At this point it's too early to tell but for now, I'm setting my sights on social democracy within my lifetime, with a further goal of more radical change to come in the future.

  30.  @sentientnatalie  I agree more radical change should happen but how will we get there?? Seems to me only thru an active third Left party via elections, for now. I mean what else is there??? We don't have a way to do it by force so... That's the only next step I see right now. Grassroots Left movement organizing to try to take over at the regional and state level via a strong Left community-first party.

  31. The story's not over yet. Anything can change at any moment. This is as true online as off. The thugs in Big Capital will never stop trying to acquire. It's up to us on the Left to fight them wherever they exist. We can fight them on the street, we can fight them in the halls, we can fight them anywhere necessary. If there's a better way of doing internet we can still get there, we just have to get organized and start moving in that direction.

Stop literally giving gobs of handouts of these people while the rest of us can't even get basic healthcare needs met reasonably afford rent. F that. What the hell do the big tech giants or giants in any industry need with handouts? They're grossing billions and netting billions or hundreds of millions so what's the problem?
