@TwoBitDaVinci - I think your conclusion was correct. Doing nothing and allowing the hazardous chemicals to explode [like a bomb] was a far worse option than facilitating a controlled burn… Perhaps another option was pierce & spill on the ground, with a fire to consume some quantities while other quantities would seep deep into the soil just to later remove unbelievable quantities of soil to be burned somewhere else, hoping all the contaminated soil was removed & replaced.

@wino99999 - perhaps not using 1800’s technology would be better. The more moving parts, the more opportunities for failure. Pipelines & locality for precursors to manufacturing is safer for everyone.

Honestly, more energy needs to be moved by pipeline, to reduce the train sizes.
