Just haul a 240v generator with extra gasoline… problem solved in a cheaper, lighter, and more modular way than a Tesla extended battery. I wish more PHEV’s were being released, at a reasonable price, without all of the fancy electronics.

I thought it was a fair assessment, pointing out the baseball being thrown, pointing out the higher price point, identifying the lower than expected distance. Are you one of those X / Musk fan-boys who thinks he is one step below God and gets everything perfect?

A smaller battery with a range extender is the way to go. Reasonably priced PHEV’s would decisively cut liquid carbon fuel usage, far more decisively than very expensive EV’s.

@putteslaintxtbks5166 - I was just vociferously agreeing with you, while citing the dislike of Tesla’s extended range solution from the video, and adding how I wish the push was towards Plug In Hybrid [from auto manufacturers] instead of EV’s.

@putteslaintxtbks5166 - it’s all good, man… I read an article from consumer reports and it seems PHEV’s are among the least reliable, along with EV’s… while Hybrids are among the the most reliable. The jump to EV has been terrible for the industry, they should have continued with incremental improvements through Hybrid to PHEV… but government pushed for something that was inorganic, and everyone suffers.

“Spare tire” There are cars that don’t have spare tires any longer. Love it, hate it. Wish all cars had run-flat tires. “innovation” The 48v system is very unique, cutting copper needs. Ethernet to cut copper needs is also very unique. If they had redundant Ethernet - that would be awesome, but I doubt it has it. The drag coefficient is very cutting edge. The drive by wire wheels is very innovative, in a pickup truck. The stainless steel alloy, eliminating paint, is very cutting edge, but will likely be expensive to fix. Really, this is very interesting, just too high of a price point for many people. “Production numbers Ford hits with ease” The Ford Lightning sales in 2023 may hit 70k… will Tesla hit that number at the end of 2024? Good question. We will see.

We need PHEV with carbon fuel range extenders. That fixes everything.

Why would he mention a Rivian during a cybertruck review? Tesla did not build the cybertruck to compete with a Rivian Watch Munroe live to see the real deal with these types of comparisons.

@ian3580 - yep, he compared it to others who Tesla is competing against. Think about. Is Tesla building to take market share away from Rivian? Nope, if that was the market Tesla was shooting for, they would go out of business from lack of market size for them both to compete with. Rivian & Tesla are shooting at the big players with market share, and the competition the big players are responding with. These are the comparisons.

@ian3580 - “would have made a… more affordable truck” Well, that is not what was introduced as a prototype that people went Gaga over. They trimmed it back some, taking inches off the truck, to make it more affordable, people complain, but it was still brought to market. Good for them! Will I buy it? No. I guess we will see if someone else buys it. I think the answer is yes. “Vanity project from the owner” Like “Back to the Future” and “what Blade Runner would drive”… this is less than a vanity project, it is a brand building project. This is a Tesla Truck, to build their brand, and people will buy it. Will they build another lower cost solution? Tesla has different model cars, they started with one car, added more, so they likely will add another truck later.

@temujinkuechle6287 - Inverters mass produced in China are virtually identical to inverter designs from decades ago. Buying something mass produced like batteries, does not improve the technology. Just walk into a dollar store, for unbelievable quantities of other examples.
