@lowlandnobleman6746 No it has nothing to do with the lowlanders. Ireland for the last 150 years has been seduced by socialism. One of the reasons for the rebellion in Ireland in 1916 was because of the socialist activists out there causing trouble. That has never gone away in Irish politics and is now stronger than ever with the vast majority of Irish politicians being motivated by socialism.

@lowlandnobleman6746 You will find that many Irish socialists were more open to the UK than native conservatives who wanted to retain the culture. Socialists are not interested in the native culture because their ideology does not believe in culture or borders for that matter. Ireland for 60 years of its existence as a republic was into big government socialism. And only when they started to back away from that did the economy improve. In 1980s Ireland was Bankrupted and only when they lowered corporate tax rates did the economy actually start to grow. If Ireland was to lower income tax rates the economy would grow at an amazing rate and people would get wealthy very quickly. Socialists are trying to block that.
