  1. You are correct that it is a social issue. The problem stems from poverty and social stratification. The countries you talk of with less violence are wealthier countries from an individuals point of view. The UK has similar violence problems as it has wealth issues like the US. Look at a city like Detroit that is the most graphic example but there is many pockets of this in every city and town in the US and UK. it will not go away until we address this first.
