iscrewy Confederacy has nothing to do with racism or slavery. The democrats of the 1860s politically acted against emancipation. There was no real relation with this and the civil war. This myth has been perpetrated by modern politics. There was democrats in the north who opposed the abolition of slavery just as there was republicans. But none of these groups really supported the confederate cause. The Civil war was a trade war just as was WW1. It revolved around land and trade.
