  1. The war was not about slaver that is a myth anybody who believes this is the case is also trying to obscure history with their own ideology. Modern so called liberal are trying to claim that the civil war was about slavery when in fact is was a classical case of controlling interests and old fashion trade control and many other complex reasons.

  2. The war was not about slavery that is a myth. The war was about who controlled what and when. It involved many complex issues and one of them being taxes and trade. And there had been many skirmishes between the north and south before all out war was conducted. I am not saying that lincoln and Co were not anti slavery but people seem to forget or not beware that there were those in the south who were also opposed to slavery as well.

  3. It does not matter what they say what matters is the actually conditions and actions that took place in that era. Starting a civil war over slavery is not the best means to end slavery in no other country was civil war used to end slavery. People today who want to believe that it was slavery that drove the civil war are them self practicing a form of political ideology that is deep rooted in today's two party political system.

  4. That still does not make the war about slavery just because some people make statements. The civil war was festering over years of conflict and was not just about an ideology such as slavery. There were those in both the south and the north that were opposed to slavery but this was not the central ideology that caused the split. The slavery issue is a modern political ideology. It is ironic that it was the republicans who opposed it and today they are consider racist.
