Never mind actually paying for it how are you going to build the systems. There simply is not enough copper to build renewable systems. And then who is going to clean all the solar panels to try and keep them operating at optimum levels.

@bogdanlevi Mid term goal? They forcing electric on the market right now. Not long or short term right now.

Copper is going to be the bottleneck in the system as there is simply not enough of it.

That all is fine and dandy but where are you getting the copper from to build the systems.

@rogergeyer9851 The manufacturers are being force by law to produce cars that meet those goals. You cannot be living in a bubble and expect not to be subjected to it.

The US more or less shut down its own coal industry and claimed it was due to the fact renewable energy was replacing the coal burning plants. Yet the number of coal plants as stayed the same and to make up for the shortage they imported coal from Columbia.

Renewable energy will take over the world but it is not going to be in 3 years time and there are a glut of solutions needed to deal with the problems. What we are seeing is government planning.

The shutdowns have also created a production bottleneck and in trying to catch up right now that is using more energy than normal. So the reserve of energy is getting eaten into at an alarming rate. There has also been manufacturing plants that have gone on fire because they are over running their production systems.

Imagine shutting down the world economy for a year and then being surprised at global problems. People never cease to amaze me.

They are old plants that cost money and most need to be refitted. Politicians only think short term so they see the up front cost of nuclear refitting and then decide it is better to go with renewable because that is popular thing to be done.
