Not everybody who works there needs to be an engineer. Some can be production technicians, fitters and so on. The US has an abundance of highly educated people with colleges spitting them out every year.

Taiwan is still going to be making a lot of chips. Moving plants to the US is to do with making sure the US has a secure production of vital components. TSCM, Intel, Samsung, IBM and so on all want to ensure that the US market gets attention.

I could almost guess who would be the opposition on this. There are people that really do not have American interests at heart and will pretend they are all about the workers when everything they do is to oppose it.

@shuki1 It has nothing to do with wages. The US as a policy has tried to use their trading, manufacturing and inventory systems to make the world peaceful and to try and turn murdering countries into good guys. It just has not worked.

Only the left thinks of a tax break as giving subsidies. I be your region collected far more taxes over the period even though the rates were lower.
