  1. Taiwan has a very impressive military that is not to be underestimated. It has an airforce of over 300 state of the art fighters, Several thousand missiles, Anti air guns, several thousand tanks. And Taiwan has a formidable air defence system that can also be used for Naval defence and has a long range capable deployment. Taiwan also has 300,000 professional troops and several hundred thousand more reserves to call from. And it is a country that will fight to the death. China does not have the ability to take Taiwan.

China does not actually have the ability to invade Taiwan. There is no point having millions of troops if they cannot be used. It would be a stalemate like when Germany and the UK fought with neither side getting the upper hand.

  7. China cannot actually invade Taiwan as it does not have the ability to do so. Full scale invasion is complex and requires lots of resources. China then needs to overcome the massive taiwanese air defence system that can also be used to target naval ships.

The democrats are bad from a an economic and social point of view but if China is stupid enough to start a war with Taiwan they need to know that the democrats can be as much for war as republicans. Obama did not pull out of Iraq when the war was in full swing and neither did the democrats. Remember it was the democrats who started the vietnam war.

  14.  @blank1673  The US air force is twice as large as China and Russia combined. US Navy is about 10 times larger than the Chinese navy. And to top that all of China does not have enough nuclear weapons to engage the US.

  21.  @xuehaibo2807  Both Japan and South Korea know that if they do not intervene they will be next in line. South Korea can easily with stand north Korea and will team up with Taiwan. Japan knows that it will also be a target from the Chinese and North Koreans who have both carried out missile exercises over Japan. China does not actually have the troop carriers to engage is such a war and if they did have them they would become sitting ducks in the ocean for South Korea, Japan and Taiwan missile defence systems that have several hundred thousand missiles to be used.

Wars are rarely about money they are always about power and those that are hungry for power. Ideology tends to create an army to fight for those power hungry leaders such as Mao.
