The same in the UK and US with socialist parties hiding in full sight of everybody yet few people realize what they are. I once had the deputy leader of an organisation once tell me that socialism was about helping people.

  6. The only real advantage New Zealand has is its remote location, lack of strategic importance and a lack of natural resources. More than likely it will be decided the cost of travelling their is not actually worth the military effort.

  8. Israel has its own military, weapons industry and also manufacturing industry. New Zealand has none of that. New Zealand has a food industry and that is about it.

  12. Maori have a great warrior tradition but unfortunately like Native Americans they have become trapped in the big government welfare state. And those that are actually driving the culture are white middle class university socialists.

  13. Their main advantage is that they are out of the way and not a strategic point globally. So if major war breaks out they may have time to arrange but the problem with that is they have no ability to produce defence weapons.

  14. They have zero detection ability. They could not even detect a group of WW2 fighter's attacking them nor could they defend from that. Many other countries coast guard could invade them. And even pirates could invade them.

  15. @Crowbar There are no excuses for Ireland though compared to New Zealand. Ireland has a GDP that is twice that of New Zealand and it is a high technology country with foreign investment and native companies. Ireland has about 10,000 defence personnel and should have five times as many as that with a fully functioning air defence system. Ireland as a culture is lazy and wants Britain to be its defence force while at the same time criticizing Britain for past histories. And here is the thing with Ireland that makes it different from New Zealand it would be a strategic point of interest in a major global war as a staging ground for attacks on Europe and for controlling the atlantic ocean.

  16.  @crowbar9566  In a true global war the atlantic would be one of the major areas of conflict. In minor wars Ireland and green land would not matter but in a true global conflict they would be both be points of interest. In WW2 Hitler did not have the ability to take Ireland due to it being screen by Britain. In a modern global conflict that would be different. In WW2 places like Malta and Cyprus became more important than they did in previous generations due to the rise of technology. Nobody imagined that Malta would become a target of WW2.
