They are two complete different types of force. One is a large scale traditional marine force with hundreds of thousands of members and still produces tough Marines. The other is a Commando force that is special operations capable and operates with lower numbers and with a different mission. There only similarity is the fact they are both Marine type forces. Both are fantastic at their jobs with glorious histories.

In some ways physically comparable but in other ways nowhere near as technical.

Lost? At what Commando exercises?

You are talking nonsense. That Commando test is at the end of the week when the personnel taking the training are already exhausted from a week of very intense tests and exercises. Your 25 mile hike does not even come close to how tough it is. It is never done on your terms and is done on the terms of the group. If you have a sore leg guess what you have to keep up. If your back hurts you keep up. If it is lashing rain in the cold and you are exhausted guess what you have to keep up. Anybody that slacks is going to get left behind and pushed out of the training cadre.

It is definitely not the easiest of the tests.

@mikkodoria4778 Population? Britain has more than enough young men who would love to serve.
1
UK are not just marines they are commandos and special operation capable. But even with that being said they cannot do what USMC does and vice versa has they both have different roles.
1
@buzzkitchen6606 They are not the same and do not have the same role in Marine warfare. There are things that USMC can do that RMC cannot and vice versa. USMC have the ability to hold large areas in extended warfare which RMC cannot. They can perform full jungle warfare at battalion scale for long periods of time beyond normal supply lines. Both forces are like chalk and cheese and cannot be compared.
1
It is really far when the body has already been exhausted by a week of intense tests. The purpose is to ensure that a Commando is capable of moving over distances when they are not in good form.
1
Nope. The training is not going to change and they are going to keep it as intense as it already is. It may end up being open to women to take but that is there decision.
1
@michaelanderson7715 It is impossible to run it all. It is a training exercise that involves different things. As if not running it all makes it easier.
1
That is all in your head.
1
The Royal Marines Dartmoor exercise is designed to be a horrible 30 miles experience at the end of the gruelling commando week. They are already exhausted when they partake in the event with many of them already carrying injuries and discomfort.
1
Nonsense.

@JammyDodger45 I made a comment on an other video do not ask me how it carried to this video.

@guypenrose5477 AACC does not have the same standards as marine service. It does allow people to claim they are a Commando. The only real Commandos are Royal Marine Commandos. The army and RAF are free to set up their own Commandos if they are willing to invest.
1
Women could join the US marines since WW2 but where there in a support capacity and had their own training pipeline for those support roles. Even though politicians have allowed it so that women can join the marines the pipeline has not changed so it is still impossible for women to joint the service in a fighting role. As long as they keep their standards it will not matter what politicians do.

@richardrider4885 War games mean nothing. What makes the US Marines special is their large numbers which are about 200,000 and their tough high level training for those large numbers. War games involve small numbers means nothing.
1
That does not make any sense.

@JammyDodger45 LRDG were an elite group on a par with the SAS and Commandos at the time. There training selection was based on taking other elite infantry groups and turning them into Desert intelligence groups. They were not normal soldier driving around in jeeps.
1
@JammyDodger45 They were a hand built group and not a existing regiment just converted. There training was unique and they hand picked the operators. They were Britain foremost experts in desert reconaise. Even the SAS would use them for their expert skills. They selected people that already were serving in the military they just did not go out and find farmers to serve. They at first selected from the 2nd New Zealand Division because they were all farmers meaning they were strong and already capable of long range walking. They selected farmers not because that was all they could get they selected them from existing service so that they would already be tough.

All Royal Marines are Commandos. Support service personnel are not Marines. Being in the band is not a marine.
1
@JammyDodger45 They are not marines they are Royal Marine Band Service and are independent wing. Did you actually think that meant they were marines?
