  2. People confuse western tolerance as meaning weakness. While it does mean that the west is slower to react to things that does not mean the west is weak. The only consumer market on earth is the western consumer market and without that the east cannot function.

  10.  @lf1496  The US has a population of 320 million and has 3 million square miles of rich geography to play with. Picking out skid row or some other local based issue in the US is not exactly representative of the country as a whole. It is like thinking the Hurricane in Florida somehow is the whole of the US. The distance from LA to New York is further than the distance from Moscow to London. That is how large the US is.

  12. The US is the world's premier industrial power and until there is an other age that supersedes industrial the US is going to dominate. It would be better to think of it in terms of European culture and then American culture rather than trying to break it down into individual countries in Europe. So Europe dominated from the 12th century up until the 1900s and then the US started to dominate. The Roman classical world lasted a similar length of time. The US is about 200 years into a probably 700 to 1000 year dominance. All the technology that runs the world has a basis in US industrial power. Everything from Pharma, aviation, computers, communications, electronic components, nuclear power, food and so on has its basis in the US industrial system. Most people do not even realize that Radio and television came from the US as did cinema

  16. The west is very stable. Developing countries are not going to get access to western economies, innovations and so on without playing by the wests rules. If you want antibiotics you have stop murdering people in large volumes is the message that the west has.
