  2. It was not a spreadsheet error. The government in Ireland just panicked after the results were released. They panicked because they then realised that this fact would drive up the cost of Ireland membership to the EU. Ireland economy grew because its economic liabilities were reduced straight after the collapse. Now the government realises that it has more to spend it is starting to introduce new economic liabilities.
