ANd combine in the cheap RPG anti tank systems that will be deployed as well.
12
South Korea is twice as large as North Korea and has a fully developed world leading industrial economy that can even supply weapons to other countries from that industrial base. Who do people really think is going to win?
10
You can bet your boots that there will be a version in service in the not to distant future even if all the features do not make it in.
6
@covenant_mog05 It is not a guarantee for Russia if the region is flooded with anti tank and anti aircraft weapons. The Russians were trying a surgical shock and awe like the US did in afghanistan and Iraq and have so far failed. Russia can always go in with the gloves off but the price they will pay for that will be immense.
5
It is still important to have localized manufacturing especially when it comes to defence. Some times that means going for a deal that in the short term does not look as attractive.
4
Developing systems that are based across several thousand units is not easy and requires decades of development. And normally when the ideas first start at the design phase they have to factor in future development technologies. No other world power is at that level only Israel is developing systems of that advanced nature but they are doing it in a very limited sector and not through a super power scale military.
3
Russia is going to throw in total about 2 million men at Ukraine before it is all over. Ukraine as a defensive force does not need those types of numbers to neutralize Russian advancement.
3
With the vehicle being remote controlled it can carry far heavier armor that means RPG would not be as effective at taking out the control system. Whole new city based tank systems could be created.
2
There would need to be some sort of manual back up system.
2
Those sleep cells are not going to be able to help the North Korean army the moment large scale force actions happen.
2
@thodan467 Source for what?
2
@EmmanuelGoldstien Then you have no evidence you have just conspiracy theories.
1
Estonia needs a force of about 150,000 and that would be about 50% of the active population and it needs to happen in a very quick fashion. Too many countries to date have been resting on their backsides and not taking the world seriously.
1
You are talking crap.
1
Nope. Israel is a culture that formed a state and has been there for thousands of years. Arabs were transplanted into the region by Ottomans and British. Most of those that claim to be Palestinians are actually ethnically Jordanian, Syrian and so on.
1
The Jews tried to have a good relationship with everybody because they were constantly being targeted and had to walk on egg shells. Israel was still a culture in that region before the foundation of the Israeli state. Anti Semites normally try to lie about most of this and will pretend that there was no Jews in the middle east.
1
@jont2576 The reason for Jews outside the middle east was simple they migrated as did many other cultures. There was many waves of Jews migrating it was not all 2000 years ago. It is like saying why are there so many Irish people in North America. There is estimated to be over 50 million Irish people in North America. There are now 5 million Chinese in America.
1
Israel has never threatened to use them even when they were being invaded. Very few other nations would be so cool about it. One particular nation has stated once they get nuclear weapons they would immediately use them on Israel.
1
@Brocuzgodlocdunfamdogson If Estonia values its welfare state over its defence forces then that is up to it but they cannot act surprised when Russia invades.
1
@EmmanuelGoldstien "do you expect a threat (warning) from israel." As stated by your self so can you provide an example of Israel threatening to use nuclear weapons or are you just going to run with conspiracy theories.
1
@EmmanuelGoldstien The Israeli military will crush any military force in that region and that is just the reality of the place. You can pretend that countries can open threaten Israel and then whine about how Israel responds.
1
That is not even close to being true. Bolsheviks were not an ethnic group nd had nothing to do with Jews and most certainly were not friends of the Jewish people. You are talking nonsense at best because Lenin was not ethnically Jewish he was a christian and was of Slavic ethnicity.
1
The army is very conservative because it needs things that are tried and tested.
1
Israel has always had complex relationship with Russia. This goes back even before the foundation of the State of Israel. Russia has backed many countries and regimes in the middle east over the last 100 years. None of this matters as Israel will do what it must even taking out regimes in the regions that are friendly with Russia. Israel has even had military clashes in the past with Russian forces.
1
@fafdus No if the Taliban had them there would be counter measures put in place. Scale is important when considering these things.
1
Definitely not extinct especially if used correctly. There was anti tank weapons in WW2 as well.
1
NLAW and anti tank RPG's along with Javelins will cause havoc.
1
Javelins will make it so that infantry can engage with Tank divisions at a distance. Other RPG type anti tank systems will be available as well. Stingers, Javeils and RPG systems will make it so that the air space and armored vehicles will find it more difficult to engage. Sort of like what the footmen of the middle ages did to Knights on horseback.
1
@johnkoperski9704 Guess what is also really expensive besides aircraft when a country is invaded. Trust men spending €20 billion on military infrastructure would seem small by comparison.
1
RPG is great for close combat where you have a line of sight and shooting skills come into play. A javelin is for surgical distances warfare. RPG is fantastic and still works wonders a Javelin creates more capabilities of a force. The Javelin is a much more intense weapons and a hit will completely disable a tank where as an RPG will damage or cause death to occupants but does not have the same overall impact.
1
There are other more simple anti tank weapons that cost about $1500 and they will be flooding the battlefield as well.
1
I am sorry to burst your bubble but Estonia does have enough money for an airforce. It currently has a government budget of about €17 billion and they could easily muster a military expenditure of €3 billion to €5 billion to include an airforce and air defence system. The easiest way to do this would be to cut welfare programs or raise taxes.
1
Most of what is being used their right now is anti tank RPG's once the Javelin gets there it will make it even more difficult. Russia is about to send in its larger tank divisions.
1
My god why are kids today obsessed with EMP and drones.
1
@frostedbutts4340 It depends on where the fire is coming from. A elevate position of fire can greatly increase accuracy. And then the volume of fire against a large convoy could be performed at a greater distance.
1
Absolutely and they could also sell more simple systems and RPG systems as well. And flood the region.
1
That is were battlefield awareness technology comes into play. Blind infantry and an airforce that cannot see anything of merit on the ground is not useful in modern warfare. And neither is using missiles that are just hitting points on a map rather than value items.
1
That is the magic of the guidance system and the reason it costs a lot of money.
1
Then Estonia needs to massively include its defence force participation and get more of its population involved. It needs to spend about €4 billion per year on its military with an initial investment of about €20 billion to build out its air force, air defences and increase its general armaments.
1
There will be built in fail safes such as manual systems.
1
It takes years and decades to build a defence industry. Look at how poorly certain countries equipment is doing in a war zone.
1
That does not make much sense.
1
No. The US will be designing and building its own tanks from scratch and they will have features that no other tank or battalion formation will have.
1
It is only natural that the US would be very strict with its technology as it is one of the things that gives the west and its partners the edge.
1
Estonia is a Nordic state.
1
America is just not going to give up all its research that it spends hundreds of billions of dollars on for it to be leaked to the USSR, China and North Korea. That is just a fact.
1
People will only be able to make those claims when a manufacturer has enough of a track record.
1
It doesn't matter who the neighbors are a country needs to have defence force. It is as important as the School system, hospitals, Roads and so on. Without a good defence force a country is at great risk of not existing.
1
The M1 Abraham's is the most cutting edge.
1
Abrams is still the best out there. There are a lot of other great tank options but none would be as sophisticated and tested as US tanks. The US could put tens of thousands of hours of development into a tank and billions of dollars and still not go with that program as they developed an even better program. The US will have several programs competing and will also have their various corporations in technology competition.
