  1. It is still important to have localized manufacturing especially when it comes to defence. Some times that means going for a deal that in the short term does not look as attractive.

  2. It takes years and decades to build a defence industry. Look at how poorly certain countries equipment is doing in a war zone.

  6. America is just not going to give up all its research that it spends hundreds of billions of dollars on for it to be leaked to the USSR, China and North Korea. That is just a fact.

  8. It doesn't matter who the neighbors are a country needs to have defence force. It is as important as the School system, hospitals, Roads and so on. Without a good defence force a country is at great risk of not existing.

  10. Abrams is still the best out there. There are a lot of other great tank options but none would be as sophisticated and tested as US tanks. The US could put tens of thousands of hours of development into a tank and billions of dollars and still not go with that program as they developed an even better program. The US will have several programs competing and will also have their various corporations in technology competition.

  11. Poland's GDP is $750 billion so it can easily afford those types of defence spending. Some hippy types do not like that the government is willing to spend that money but guess what they are living in a fantasy world.
