America did not lose to the Vietcong. I think you are mistaken.
3
@adastra8218 Not necessarily. China does not have a long term sustaining economy. It cannot be a factory for the west because that is not going to grow its economy.
3
@redline589 China does not have enough nuclear weapons to wage war.
3
Taiwan air force and air defence system will make mince meat of any invading force.
3
@overlord4404 They have risk exposure but not at the same level as other European countries. Any infrastructure in Europe can be hit and that includes Russian infrastructure.
3
There is already large amounts of manufacturing in Mexico that is based on NAFTA and that is only going to keep growing.
3
@michaelwittkopp3379 Germany is gas and oil reliant on Russia. The US is pretty much energy independent and has everything it needs to maintain its trade and population levels. China does not project international power and its only leverage is that the west does not want a war to start so hey will tolerate certain activities to avoid that conflict. Russia on the other hand has oil and gas with a military that has nuclear weapons hence why it can get away with far more than what China can. The vast majority of US trade is internal and even gave up its markets freely to certain nations to buy it favors. The US treats trade as a means of stability on the global stage.
3
@Zgnid Olias China's national rhetoric is not their problem. They grew their market economy and now have decided they want to go back to communism. And then there is the problem that China has never answered for murdering over 100 milllion people like the Nazi's have.
3
Nationalism is not the problem in China. Being ruled by a murderous communist government is their biggest problem.
3
Again that is just nonsense and not the reason why the American market is bigger and better than any european country.
3
Pure fantasy.
3
@NMY232 They maybe low tax by European standards not by US standards though. The median income in the US is $70000 with a tax liability of about 12% and in any european country that income would be taxed at almost 50%. A small business being run in America has far lower tax burden than in Europe. So while people may look at say Switzerland or Luxembourg they are not comparable to any state in the US when it comes to taxes.
3
Without American dominance the world would be in chaos. You may not like the idea but the reality is very different.
3
American investment most certainly help Korea get of the ground as did American support. Korea is responsible for its own success.
3
@Anton S The US has roughly about 50% of it cold war nuclear weapons active Russia has about 5% of its nuclear weapons active. China simply does not have enough nuclear weapons for full exchange with the US if it even tried to do it the world would have a very large supply of glass from China.
3
@richardmakaya5261 For the US to wipe out the Taliban it would need to kill a lot of people and that would mean civilian lives. The US and its public are not willing to do that. Remember the US in all its wars since WW2 has been fighting with gloves on due to the fact it has been acting like world police force. If they take the gloves off it will be a different matter.
3
@UniverseExp91 The US military in equivalent dollars has spent about 20 trillion over the last 2 decades and without Afghanistan they would still have spent the 20 trillion. The 2.5 trillion figure you are talking about covers both Afghanistan and Iraq. Pulling out of a place 20 years after a minor US battle means nothing in terms of win or defeat. If the US went back tomorrow they would control Afghanistan in about 3 weeks and that would be fighting with the gloves on and one hand behind the back.
3
Then Australia will need to develop a more market economy like the US. That means using those natural resources to build business and trade internal within Australia. I a not sure Australia people want to do that though.
2
If you do move to Australia or consider it make sure your professional skills are in demand and able to be used by Australia.
2
The backbone of Australian industrial energy should be coal. Modern coal processing for energy is much cleaner than the historical plants. Most of the by products like carbon in soot form and CO2 form can be used industrially. Sulphur and mercury also have industrial usage. Every waste material should be sucked up and used at an industrial level. There is no point Australia sending its raw materials abroad for value to be added elsewhere. Australian high quality steel and its products should be world famous and a mark of Australia instead Iron ore is sent to China to produce the worlds diresty industry and worst steel quality of the modern world. Australian agri should also be world famous.
2
@danielch6662 The US did not have a 1 child policy so it has a healthy demographic and has 100 million available men in military service age range for a large war. The reason why it appears like the US has a deficit is due to the fact the US correctly calculates its finances and does not hide its debt into its tax and welfare system like other countries do. The US has thousands of trillions of assets that it can develop and use at any time and a transport system that enables it to freely produce food. It is the reason why the US is agri independent and energy independent country.
2
@joshwright3683 Australia has massive coal reserves that could easily build a clean energy system that would be the backbone of its industrial base. Australia has everything it needs to build a modern wonder industrial economy. There might be a glut of German engineers over the next few years that could easily be enticed to moved to Australia.
2
@dan7564 An Australian missile defence system with the abilities to identify targets through the use of Australia navy and airforce would be part of ensuring that no gap exists. That could counter any Chinese attempt to form a blockade patrol.
2
That would not stop China from trying though. The only thing about this is that it may not play out over the next 5 years but next 20 years but then again Xi is near to 70 years old and may out of some desperation try something.
2
@Alex-Rainmaker Biden and Trump are the presidents it is not them to decides if the US goes to war it is the Congress. The president can do limited things like send aid or direct the military for security reasons.
2
It is not difficult to survive that is an overstatement. What hight taxes does is not allow the internal economy to grow. Until Ireland decides to get rid of its welfare state mentality it will go nowhere.
2
Climate hysteria is creating a series of national and international policies that are not going to solve climate change. What they are going to do is use up existing capital for projects that do not work. The only solution to climate change is for a series of investments into new material science projects that can be applied to energy generation and energy storage. A well as recycling of materials such as plastics. The US for example recycles 95% of its steel and that needs to be the case for plastics. Ireland needs to develop a two market approach with it high tech value added export market that is cutting edge products such as pharma, medical devices, electronics and food production. Its internal market place is different and is more about supplying products for the internal markets and services. At present Ireland imports too much of its products and needs to reduce that figure about about 50%. More specialized products such as iphones do not need to be part of that internal production. Ireland needs to also form partnerships with British, French and german industries to help build its own internal market production. Deregulating the internal market is the only play that Ireland needs to make alongside tax cuts for income tax and small businesses taxes. Ireland is nowhere near its full potential when it comes to using its natural resources.
2
@MrHotass81 The welfare state is a mentality that has been ingrained in Irish people since the foundation of the Irish state. It is not new and predates the current politicians who are in power. The Irish people want that welfare state culture and there is no getting around that fact.
2
Irish politicians are not pocketing the money. What is happening is that the Irish welfare state mentality has not allowed Ireland to live to its full potential.
2
@dennisbrown5313 Taking all of that aside and just focusing on Russian engineering for a moment. I am saying that Russia simply would not have an easy time of just launching on their own never mind the capabilities of US defence systems. There is the factor that Russia warheads are based on mechanical systems that are 50 years old and it is unlikely based on the evidence of their performance in Ukraine that they would have an enough missiles for full nuclear exchange. There is a high probability that US sensor networks are capable of tracking the majority of Russian assets. I also suspect Russia knows all of this as well.
2
@Морозов-ь7с Launching for a video is not the same as deploying in a critical attack and doing it successfully. Sub launches are some of the most complex there are from a technical point of view.
2
@JamesKerLindsay Tighten what screw on Taiwan. China does not have any tools.
2
@adamseward4713 You knew one guy out of 20 million. My god your sample size is really representative of the country.
2
Older US weapons are still years ahead of Chinese weapons.
2
@neohubris Losing does not stop tyrants from trying.
2
Drones are useless in war. They cannot take out military armaments. Too many kids playing video games.
2
That is fantasy. Taiwan as a chip manufacturing centre only functions because it is based on US industry. All those chips are licensed by US industry. Even ASML which is a dutch company functions via US industry. The only way China sort this out is to go out of its way to repair its US relationship. Is China ready for that?
2
That is fantasy. The Cartel does not influence the industrial centers in Mexico. It has no control of places like Mexico CIty.
2
@billc6762 Right now there is a series of restrictions being placed on microchips going to China an that will probably end up doing that.
2
The has already shored more of its manufacturing in Mexico that that of China and that number is only going to keep growing. The main difference between the two places is that in Mexican culture the government does not see it self as the owner of production.
2
@williamlloyd3769 I also think that Mexico will be more creative from a business point of view than China has been. I suspect you will start to see lots of Mexican branded products as well in the US. China is just an assembly manufacturing region. China cannot do any of the high tech production. People have been pointing out how China has made a big deal out of the fact that it just in the last decade figured out how to manufacture their own ball point pens.
2
@mrsalwaysright6478 No body cares what you want.
2
China is still a rural country. The vast majority of the country live in rural settings earning less than $1000 per year.
2
China is a factory economy with little room for growth.
2
Detroit was a democratic run city.
2
You are talking nonsense at best and just spouting media political activism. Liz \Truss wants to implement a free market approach to grow the UK rather than using a failed European market approach. There is a reason why Germany is about to collapse and why Italy, Spain and Greece are failures.
2
That is just pure fantasy.
2
People use US dollar because it is the most stable currency in the world.
2
@Fantastika Median income in the Germany is $32000 per year and in the US it is $70000 show how is EU having a better quality of life? I do hope the heating works this winter in Europe.
2
It is part of the same economic culture that is how.
