The problem that Sessions and Trump have is if they try and go after the likes of Clinton or the Uranium one deal it will look like a political witch hunt. Even though that is exactly what is happening with Trump. The democrats have the media and the political players to shape this politics so that the public only gets to see one side. That is how much of a cesspool American politics has become.

No he is trying to appear independent and not bias. The reason why Jeff Sessions has not charged the Clintons is because the news cycle will be turned in to a pure spectacle where they will be saying it is political persecution. I would say Trump understands this as well on a certain level. I would say they are trying to engineer a different approach so that it will not look like the white house is carrying out the prosecution.

Trump meeting with the Russians is not a crime. It cannot be prosecuted. The logan act is about the only thing that they can prosecute Trump with but they will have issues because Trump was not a politician at that point and would have had no powers as a citizen. The only thing they have at the moment is Flynn lying under oath and some dodgy deals with Manafort but if any of these deals have a link to the democrats well that may come back on them as well. One of the Manafort companies named in the charges against him also has dealings with the podesta group which in turn has ties to the state department under the democrats.

+maninthemiddle55 Can you please tell us what can they charge Trump with in terms of dealings with the Russians?

The special council has nothing he can charge Trump with. Even if he can show that Trump dealt with the Russians it still is not a chargeable offence. I would say what he is hoping for is a finding that shows Trump worked with the Russians on some level that then can be used by the democrats to keep beating the drum. This is what republicans need to be careful of because this drum will also be turned on them and some way the democrats will find a means to make the tax cuts about the Russians and Obamacare. That may sound stupid but the way they are operating it would not surprise me.

+dffd decxdecx Sessions is a master at law and everything he does and sees is view via the prism of law and constitution. The things he is doing now will be better for down the road. He is playing a legal chess game that requires skill. While recusing himself may seem weak it means he will not get tied down as attorney general. If he did not recuse himself it would mean everything he does could get tainted. Recusing himself really only applies to investigating Trump for something that Trump cannot even get charged with because it is not a crime to meet with Russians it only looks bad politically but we will soon be at the point were that dead horse will be like calling wolf.

Mueller cannot find Trump guilty of anything because meeting with the Russians is not a crime in America. Even during the height of the USSR it was not a crime unless that person did a criminal acts such as theft or espionage. This is all about creating a political circus.

Prosecuting Kushner and Trump Jr is not going to get the president in Trouble what it may start looking like is a political witch hunt. Even if Trump meet with the Russians and he gave them his political plans no crime has been committed. Mueller knows this as well. So what is happening is that Mueller hopes to prosecute some people and in that Prosecution wants to prove that Trump had a meeting with the Russians so that the democrats can then use this as a political weapon. But democrats need to be very careful on this issue because the executive could just as easily open their own council to investigate Democrats with to see if any of them had meetings with the Russians.

+bighands69 As I have stated none of this is a crime for a free citizen to meet and have relations with anybody. If he was say the secretary of state and received hundreds of millions into a special foundation then that could be a case for quid pro quo but the important would be "COULD" but is not definitive either. See you are making the mistake as democrats in viewing all of this as a crime when it is not a crime. Jimmy Carter tried to cut a deal with the USSR to win the elections and it was not prosecuted even by republicans and the simple reason was it was not illegal. So it is it not illegal then what is the purpose of the special council? The purpose is to find some sort of guilt say for tax evasion and in that prosecution have a link to Russia show up so that it can be made political. So let me ask you when do you think the crime happened when Trump was a citizen or when he was president?
