That is what keeps prices down. If you want extra prices then you interfere with it. If you want a gauranteed seat them you will have to pay the extra due.

Guaranteed ticket bookings and prices will drive up the overall cost of airlines and in turn fare prices. It may seem noble to do this but it will have market effect.

Brandon Toad I think you are copy and pasting your comments here. I think both republicans and democrats voted on this.

Many airlines have gone bankrupt. As an investor I simply will not invest in airlines because they simply are an unreliable investment. Profitability in the airline industry is terrible. Yet here you all are wishing for more liabilities on airlines. All that safety costs a fortune without adding more costs. Be prepared for the price of tickets to increase.

I am six feet tall and do not care about people who are 5'1" or people who are 7'10". I only care about the price of the ticket. If I want more leg room then I will pay for the extra privilege.

+Timothy Lane Be prepared for the increase in fares once this actually gets to the floor.

+JTLids If you want more legroom then you should pay for it. It is that simple. Asking congress to step in and try and cover the cost of this is just insane.

You may see it as record profits but it is nothing special. Airlines are one of the worse sectors to invest in. No serious investor actually would put any money near the sector. This will only drive the price of seats up.

+MrKGatl Republicans are not against regulation they are against regulation that impinge up rights. This bill clearly is an impingement upon consumer rights and business rights.

The issue then is being stuck in a position for two hours?
2
+Brandon Toad I would say both republicans and democrats voted on it.
2
+Brandon Toad Not just republican congress but also democrat congress. You cannot claim they are that different when in fact they are more similar in some ways.

+Timothy Lane If you check the terms of condition of the product you will see that the airline does not guarantee you a flight. That means weather, natural disasters, mechanical issues and many more issues can stop the flight. The only thing you should have a guarantee on is getting you money back when they do not deliver. You are not guaranteed a Burger at McDonalds nor are you guaranteed a car at a car lot. It has nothing to do with libertarian as in free market and has more to do with actually using government to force things that you are not happy with. If an airline knowingly does something that is dangerous then that should be jail time otherwise you are just inviting the government to start policing market practices. If it starts with airlines it will be part of everything else as well.
1
+Timothy Lane You have missed the point completely. You are never guaranteed a flight it is that simple. As to a seat on the right to fly to somewhere you are still not guaranteed that. There are very strict terms of service that you agree to when making such a purchase. The fact you do not seem to grasp that there are conditions means you simply are not fully equiped to have this debate. And the fact you immediate started to label libertarian as a means of insult shows that you simply do not have the tools to debate this topic. I will ask you again do terms and conditions apply to these services yes or no.

+nafia morris Do you airlines have terms of condition or not. That is a yes or no question. I never asked about 200 seats or 50 seats.

This will drive up the price of tickets on Aircraft. People want the cheap prices and air travel businesses make money. Typrical big government approach.

+Glenn Howden You could always pay for the first class ticket if you want. If they do start to dicated airline seating space it will just have an impact upon prices and this incidence it will increase fares.
1
+Glenn Howden If I want comfort, space and to be pampered I will fly first class. If I want the seat to be cheap with littles space guess what I want the lowest fare. You cannot have it both ways. You cannot buy a Toyota and expect a BMW and the moment you are unhappy ask the government to come in and force Toyota to produce BMW and then complain about the price afterwards because that will be the next move by whiny people.
1
+Khorne Berzerker I do not need to explain it to you. Go and look up flight seating classes. If you are so tall that you will not fit into some super spacious seat then there is nothing that can be done for you.
1
+Timothy Lane SO you are showing your true intentions by that statement. As stated by you "Maybe 50 dollar cross country flights didn't need to be a thing". You can afford more and you want to force everybody to pay more so as to meet you desires. But if you can afford more tell us why do you not just go first class?

Clearly both parties like this government interference.
