  1. I find that story to be a little farfetch'd. Japan is a highly conservative country were public outbursts are very rare and to be honest non existent. So in your story did you just ask another table to move by any chance because that sounds a lot more likely. Your story sounds like something you seen in a movie made in another culture. The Japanese are very protective of their own culture but that does not normally extend to moving tables.

  2. +Arjun Yadav Japanese are highly conservative as a culture. They are not prone to outbursts but at the same time they will not change their ways so if you ask them to go out of their way they simply will not do it. I am not saying there are not ignorant people in Japan who will have big outbursts but that is not the same as saying the whole culture will do that. There are many things about Japanese culture such as women not making eye contact in public it does not mean you cannot make eye contact either every now and then. I have not lived in Japan but I travel there routinely for business and have spent durations there and have done that for many years. I am keenly aware of the culture just as I am aware of Swiss and German culture as well because I spend time there and speak the languages. I am not talking about holidays either.

  3. Whenever I travel to a foreign country and try to adapt the cultures of that country if I do not like certain cultural practices then guess what I am not going to go there. When I travel to Japan on business I speak Japanese, Eat their food conform to their behaviors. And I expect them to do the exact same when they travel to other countries. I have never seen a Japanese person travel to another culture and start to dictate to that culture what they should do. None of this is offensive or rocket science and just requires basic effort.
